Hi! I was wondering if there are any universities in California that offer need-based financial aid for international students.
Thank you!
I’m sorry I forgot to write more details. I’m from Romania and I’m in my junior year. I’m planning to study film in the USA and I really want to study in California, if possible. However, I couldn’t find any good universities in that area that offer financial aid.
Well…the public universities in CA are no longer offering need based aid to OOS students…I’m imagining that international students are considered OOS.
There are plenty of good universities in CA. None guarantee to meet full need for all international students as far as I know.
@elisaandreea You are probably going to have to focus on private universities and most public ones only give FA to US citizens and permanent residents. In California, the Claremont College (at least Pomona) and Stanford University offer financial aid to international students. If you are admitted, they will meet your full documented need but you are facing exceptionally competitive admissions.
You might want to broaden your search. The Ivy Group colleges, Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan, Smith, Mount Holyoke etc all give financial aid to international students, though in most cases they are “need aware” so you are facing more competitive admissions. I know that Mount Holyoke is known for the large number of international students they admit.
