<p>The financial aid form of Cornell (supplement to the FAFSA and the CSS) asks the following question-
'Write in the amount that the student's parents can afford for 2008-2009.'</p>

<p>My annual family income is about $8000 and according to an online EFC calculator, my EFC is $0. What amount should I state in response to this question? (Cornell is one of the colleges that are need-blind and meet the complete demonstrated need.)</p>

<p>since your income is so low- what does your family live on?
Many schools expect student contribution from summer work to be about $3,000.
If you need to contribute all of your earnings for your family expenses, be sure and include that information.
Also remember that need can be met with loans as well as grants.</p>
