Financial aid forms request?

Okay i know everyone has been seeing these everywhere… alot of people have been getting emails asking for fin aid forms and wondering if this has anything to do w/ admissions. But… i can’t help myself.

I just got an email from Penn asking for my tax documents… but on the penn website it says:

Parent & Student 2005 federal income tax returns, all schedules, pages and W-2 forms

Attach a Tax I.D. Form to each return
Deadline: Preferably April 15 and no later than May 1, 2006

soo… why would they be asking for this now when they aren’t due until after you find out if you get in? i am inclined to believe this is a GOOD sign (not a definite acceptance, but it can’t be a BAD sign, right?).

on the other hand, i have already been accepted to two schools and neither of them asked for forms beforehand so i know it isn’t ALWAYS the case… anyway this is not helping my obsession!

umm JUST saw the post at the bottom of the page about this topic. anyway if anyone has any ideas about this in general, not just for penn i would be interested to hear what you have to say!

so class of 2011 applicants...purposefully delay some tax forms...and see if they request them at this time in order to guess the decision..lol

haha yes GOOD PLAN. except i didn't "delay" these... they aren't even due yet.

I continue receiving from Upenn to encourage me to send them in my family's missing financial documents even after I replied that my family had difficulties to file in in time and might have to withdraw my financial application this year. Upenn is really nice.

I just received an email this morning:

"....We can give you a preliminary aid notice with the CSS/Profile application and the Form 6. Tax returns are required at a later date, April 15th. However, you can still submit the Tax returns at a later date but your financial does not become final until we receive Federal Tax Returns and W2's....."

My dad said it might be a good sign with the admission that they want us to send in these information even after April 1 and he said that he would try best to complete tax filing before April 15.

Any thoughts?
