Excellent info, I didn’t know that the science grad school students get tuition waived, that’s exciting! And good thoughts on the study abroad cost, you are correct that would be extra at U of Idaho.

I’m guessing you’re right about the staff being off on Easter Monday, I didn’t even think about that. I’m sure they deserve the time, it’s probably been really stressful in the FA office lately. I’ll try to be patient :).

hsmom4,
Be sure to make a copy of the document you are sending to NM confirming that you are changing your 1st choice. Be sure it has the date on it and then also fax it to TU’s FA office, so they have a copy in your daus file. A neighbor had a bit of a hassle at another school (the one my older s attended) when they had trouble proving when they changed the first choice school with NM so as to be sure the school he was attending was listed as the first choice, and documented within the deadline.

I am working on answering your pm! Happy to help.

So question, I noticed in my requiremnets section that there was one unfurfiled requirement, that being “Response to Aid Offer Established and Requested”. I have yet to get any financial aid package so I obviously cannot respond to a non exsistant aid offer. Has anyone else seen this in their gibson account before they got their aid offer? Would this “requirement” be a potential reason why I have yet to get a package?

heltonmom -are you talking about the PM? I did get it, but… well I will send you one tonight. I thought it had become a moot point since he decided. But I should have answered anyway. My apologies.

May 1 is the deadline. If you got a merit scholarship with your offer of admission, you automatically get that scholarship when you tell them you have chosen Tulane. I think the only other thing is you have to formally accept the terms and conditions of the scholarship, maybe.

Thanks, fallenchemist, I started a response to repetio based on what I had read on this forum, but suddenly became unsure.
In other news and in response to other questions, the Financial aid office was open today at Tulane. I know from calling them just to ask if they were open. My son’s file is not incomplete, but marked as unreviewed. It is hard to wait. Should I have identified myself and asked why that particular form has not been reviewed? I certainly can sympathize with their over-worked staff, but don’t feel comfortable with the stagnation of his financial aid file.

Worst case Transfer (and I certainly hope they don’t make you wait this long) if you don’t hear by the 13th you could write to FA office and tell them you are coming for DT and would like to discuss your package with the FA counselor. Therefore could they please have it ready for you to look at then. But I bet they have it before that.

I still don’t have my financial aid package yet :(

I’ve already gotten my merit aid (presidential scholar here) but nothing else has popped up on gibson. If I’m not eligible for need-based aid, are they going to at least let me know so I don’t go crazy waiting for something that’s not coming?

Yes, they would let you know. I would either call or e-mail. There could be some other problem that would only be discovered if you contact them.

I actually just called the office of financial aid and they said by next Monday or Tuesday I should get an email telling me I could check my status on gibson. If it;s not up by then, I guess I’ll call again

Well I’m from instate. Okay hmm, any other parameters that could delay financial aid records? Which is your financial aid counselor? Mine’s Cherie Plaideau.

I have no idea actually. I didn’t bothering trying to get too involved with it until I realized I still didn’t have my aid package. WHere can I find this info out?
