I was wondering if anybody could tell me their honest opinion on if American University is worth the high cost, and if anyone had tips for financial aid and when it comes to paying.
I was accepted into AU’s honors program, so they’d give me $20,000 a year to go, but I’d still end up having to pay about $30,000+ a year. On the other end of the spectrum, I got a full ride at an in-state university (Kansas State U) so there I’d only have to pay about $9,000 for room and board.
I know that at the end of the day this is my own decision to make, but any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!
Everyone’s financial situation is different.
My questions based on what I see in this post are:
– How comfortably can you pay $30k per year?
– How badly do you want to come to DC/what are your motivations for coming to AU/DC?
If you have some type of half-baked idea about AU and DC that you think can be fulfilled, is worth $30k a year, and you can pay comfortably, I would come. If not, in my PERSONAL opinion, I wouldn’t make the trek and stay at Kansas State.
I personally wouldn’t want to know that I shelled out $120k or took out that amount in loans after 4 years. But I know plenty of AU students that do.
