Financial Aid/Loans for internationals looking to study in the U.S.?

Hello everyone. I’m Tarek from Lebanon and I will be graduating with B.S. in pharmacy from the Lebanese American University, LAU, which is accredited by the Accreditation Counsel for Pharmacy Education, the ACPE. I don’t want to stop here of course. I’m planning of getting my Pharm.D. The problem is that there’s a chance I won’t be accepted for this programm since it’s highly competitive. So it’s not that I’m not qualified knowing that I have an “ok” GPA of 3.2 . So of course I need a plan B and I thought nothing is better than studying in the U.S. for this degree. My question is, what are some good universities that have this program and to where I can be admitted with relatively few difficulties? And what other options are there for me as pharmacist if Pharm.D. is not possible no matter what the reasons? And what about residency? And if I get my degree there, will it be easier for me to find job there as a clinical pharmacist, or college professor? Thank you in advance :).

Hey sorry I haven’t checked this thread in a while because I was busy with exams.

Well, just to clarify, I’m only thinking about a loan because I have to, I’m not even sure about my chances with financial aid. And yes, I can find a co-signer, this is rather my problem and I have no worries about it since I have really close people living in the U.S. who has already agreed to sign.

I’m just worried I wouldn’t be eligible for financial aid since I haven’t done very well the past year

I am in the same position!
Sharing my research~

UK does NOT give any aid at all. Unless you are an over achiever with like 16-22 As and A*s in O and A levels, then you might get Oxbridge’s full scholarships.

Some US colleges give alot of international aid. It just depends whether you have solid enough grades to compete. ALL the top colleges in the East give aid. (Californian schools-Stanford, Caltech, UCs etc-no aid)
The middle tier schools: Smith, Mt Holyoke (all girls), Colgate, Washington Uni in St Louis, Vassar, Oberlin, Macalester, Middlebury, Lehigh, Berea, Bard ALL gives pretty good aid to internationals, if you dont mind living in the middle nowhere.
This list is AMAZING: http://infousa.state.gov/education/studyteach/docs/intfinaid.pdf

Canada gives spartan SIGNIFICANT scholarships-5k is common-but that’s just not enough for me, however, they exist. Just research! Like crazyy!

Hope we can go to college~

Thank you in advance! :)

Hi b@r!um! I am an international 17er. And I would like to ask you for some advice. I got 29 in ACT and 110 in toefl test. My gpa is around 3.7-3.8 (my school does not calculate that,) and I have quite a few interesting ECs. I have been in a long term puzzlement and uncertainty on which college I should apply to. i will need FA for around 30k per year and I do not really care about the rankings, and both national university and liberal art schools sound good to me. Could you please list me some generous schools that I might have a chance with the FA? Thanks!

hope you can get a financial aid!

Hello my friends,

I am an itnernational student from Mexico with an F1 student visa. I’ve never had the necesssity to search for a loan until now. I need the loan to pay part of a summer internship placement program called Dream Careers. Could anyone please inform me if we are elegible for loans, and if we are:

-Which are the organizations/banks that provide loans for non-citizens like me? and which are the requirements.

I went to my local bank Regions, and they told me I need to be a permanent citizen in order to get a loan.

I’ve search a lot and can’t found anything. I appreciate your time and help!
