I never applied to Wellesley for FA since people told me I wouldn't get it anyways. Although my family is not wealthy, we're very stable. The thing is, 40k a year is a lot of money and my brother will be attending college himself in a couple years while I am still in college. My family can afford it, but it will be a strain. I was wondering if it was possible to "negotiate" for money from Wellesley like I have heard some people do from Carnegie Mellon, etc. I got a scholarship from Bryn Mawr, but that's it.

I definitely don't want to take money away from people who really need it and who applied for it, but after reading all these posts about how generous Wellesley is...just wondering!

I think I'm in your position too with the "stable" but not being able to afford 40,000 a year thing...I didn't get a CENT from Wellesley's financial aid office. It was very devastating :-(

The fact that you didn't apply for FA at first will probably make it nearly impossible to get financial aid this year. Wellesley does not offer merit scholarships. However, you have to reapply for financial aid every year- which means when your brother does enter college, it's worth a shot.
