can’t answer your questions 1 and 2.
For 3, I think you need to contact Georgia Tech.
@annamom Thanks for the reply. Emailed the financial aid office a few days ago with no response, called too and went to voicemail. Not quite sure what to do at this point.
then call again. I did that for one or two colleges. BTW, it does not hurt to apply for the IRS transcript. Go to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript, I found out they came less than 2 weeks.
If you did not file for income tax, it also does not hurt to get a copy of the non-filer transcript for yourself
First of all…why didn’t you use the IRS DRT in the first place…?
For question 1. Have you received requests from your colleges for verification documents? If so, you can contact the colleges to ask if you need to submit additional tax return information. Verification can be for other things as well…what did EACH college ask you to send?
Question 2. Just like you did when you submitted more than 10 schools the FIRST time around…
Wait until THIS submission processes. Then go back in…remove schools…add schools…and submit again.
Question 3. Call GA Tech and ask them.
@thumper1 Asked my parents if they wanted me to do it, they had heard it had some security problems in the past so they were a little wary. Convinced them otherwise after my thing was selected for verification.
I think you have to send the verification items they asked for.
Send the colleges what they have requested.
Or call them and ask. Maybe they will say linking to the DRT is sufficient. We can’t guess that response.
When you chose NOT to use the DRT, you should have THEN requested a tax transcript so you would have it if requested. So get it now.
This is a student asking. The PARENT has to request the tax transcripts for him/herself, which ever parent signed the FAFSA (student would request it for the student if over 18).
And if the parents file married filing separately…EACH parent will need a tax transcript. But if that is the case, they wouldn’t have been able to use the DRT at all for their FAFSA.
