How many years has that same line been used for HWS admissions anyways?

I think it's been around for 5 or 10 years. Although I'm not entirely positive. They need to do something about it, the school is much better than the admissions slogan...

jelomom - glad to hear your ds will be sitting in on a class at HWS. Today my Dh, DS and I had a long talk about his choices and he still is not sure. He wants to visit HWS again so we will prob. go sometime this week since he is off. I presently am off from work for bilateral stress fractures in my feet and have quite a time walking but this Saturday is Open House and I am so wanting to take him. My DH cannot take him (due to work) and he told me I would be foolish to go but I told him I could just sit somewhere like in the Scandling Ctr and DS could go on residence tours and etc. Oh idk...........
It is so hard to help. I have my feelings but I do not want to sway DS. It's between HWS, Syracuse, and RPI now. Older son is @ RPI now (3.25 hrs away). I think that is the reason he still favors going there. He is close to his brother but he will only be there for 1 more yr. He has ruled out others but is still thinking of Union for the waitlist issue. DH put a note on our calender that he would like ds to make a decision by next week Wednesday. Ds has always been close to us (our youngest of our 2 children) and even though he is independent he wanted to be close to home for the 'just because'. Older son, on the other hand, feels he needs to get away from familiar areas and develop his own style not influenced by us. I told older ds that his brother can do that around here too. DS is pretty much confused now. Hmmm... The financial aid from all 3 schools is very close.

If you'd like, I'll be around on Sat. and I could come talk to you about the school in the cafe (or somewhere). My undergrad decision was also between RPI and HWS, so I may have some insite into that decision. Just let me know, and I can make plans to meet with you!

I am just hoping (praying) that instinct kicks in and the answer will become obvious to my ds. I have 3 more to eventually go through this with and the thought is just exhausting. My youngest is just starting school and in 12 years time, I can not even imagine what this process will require.

va - thanks for your offer. Today is Wednesday and it was a beautiful day! My son wanted to go to HWS to take one last tour around campus and he was delightfully surprised at all the students out and about. He said the Quad was so full and all the athletic courts were busy. He said he got a great feeling there today. Due to my feet being as they still are, he drove there, parked on Main St and I waited for him while he took a tour. He is taking his road test next week so he cannot drive alone yet. He said he believes the great weather and the variety of people about gave him a different impression then when he was there when it was cold. When he was done, he wanted me to see how the campus was so we drove through it down Pulteney and yes the Quad was full of people doing all sorts of activities. Earlier, I did get a chance to sit at the benches on Main St facing the lake and it was very peaceful. I also got a good feeling. He is planning to go Saturday but will only stay for a few hours since it is his B-day and he has friends coming over for the day. I will pass on your offer to DS if he still has questions about HWS and maybe we can get together next week sometime.....Although, I might be holed up in Scandling on Saturday and it would be nice to ask you a few parent questions...I will let you know.
It was very nice of you to offer.
