Has anyone who was accepted recently received financial aid packages yet? If you have, how long did you have to wait between receiving your package and the initial acceptance notification?
I ask because I’m in a bit of a situation where I NEED to find out Cornell’s aid before a deadline to confirm my spot at another university. I only have a few days to find this out as the deadline is next Monday but I just received my acceptance to Cornell (without a package) yesterday…
Any idea on what I should do?
Did you try viewing it online? Im not sure if they even send a paper copy through mail
@EngrBound yeah nothing yet ):
Definitely contact them. They did not process documents uploaded to IDOC twice – once for the original award and then again for verification. An e-mail on the first one and a phone call on the second took care of it, though. Prepare to be on hold, but once I was put through the lady was very helpful and processed the document immediately.
@dedex13 ty for the advice! I ended up getting everything through according to them and they sent me an email saying they’ll contact me if they need anything else. I just hope I can get an offer in the next few days. Any thoughts/comments/experiences on how quick the turn around time for this is?
The missing document was added on April 4 and she got her award on April 8. Hopefully turn around will be a little quicker for you since presumably they’ve already finished with the students admitted on March 31. Have you checked the financial aid scenarios they have available? They are fairly clear about what to expect for student contribution, not so much on family contribution, though.
@dedex13 that’s super quick and very encouraging! If Cornell follows a similar metric to other universities I am relatively confident that almost all the tuition should be covered - I just want to be sure (i.e. receive the actual letter). Even their calculator estimates a conclusion similar to this but I just don’t want to take a risk without the letter.
Additionally, I called my other university and got a go ahead to respond after the 5/2 deadline as long as it is within the week. Hopefully it works out!!
@2Brown4MyOwnGood Did you ever get your aid?
Update on financial aid for everyone:
Financial aid packets are emailed out every Wednesday and when you get one depends on how quickly your documents have been processed and how quickly they can be compiled with the financial aid equation.
This came from ILR’s saving grace - Ian.
So no need to worry guys. Just be on the lookout every Wednesday.
@Brycifer did you get yours?
@socoutmia No, I’ll be getting mine next Wednesday. I would have gotten mine today, but I had to make a correction on my CSS profile regarding who owned my house, and it was really complicated to explain so it delayed it.
