Can/Will schools deny you for needing financial aid/applying for scholarships+aid etc…?
I didn’t think so but then I read some stuff on here and now I’m just confused
Some schools are need aware for admissions. This means your financial need is considered when your application for admission is considered.
Most colleges are need blind, meaning the admissions department doesn’t know your financial need when your application is considered.
So…the answer is it depends on the school.
What colleges are you interested in?
Is this your list? And is it University of Notre Dame?
These schools are need blind for admission unless you are an international student.
You are from NY state. Do you qualify for the Excelsior award? If so, I believe your tuition would be covered at a SUNY school.
NYU and BU do not guarantee to meet full need, and cost roughly $70,000 a year.
Have you run the net price calculators for, these schools? Are your parents divorced? Do they own a business or are they self employed? Do they own real estate in addition to your primary residence? If NO to all of these do,the net price calculators on these college websites to get an ESTIMATE of your net costs at each one.
What if im not gunning for full need though? Just like half if anything? and Yes, Univ of Notre Dame. Those are mostly my reach schools if anything
The schools determine your need…not you.
Each place will use their own formula to decide if you need any aid.
Yes, a need-aware institution might reject you because you need too much aid, compared to other students with grades and test scores and ECs, etc. like yours. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apply. If they really want you, they will admit you.
