<p>How generous is Stanford at giving out financial aid to out of staters (I live in Florida) in comparison to rival schools?</p>
<p>Mostly looking for info on merit aid, though perhaps some on needbased as well. Thanks</p>
<p>stanford doesn't care if you're out of state since it is a private school. they also don't offer any merit based scholarships.</p>
<p>Stanford has no merit aid, sorry. As for financial aid--I didn't get any anywhere, but some of my friends who did told me that Stanford is probably one of the stingiest schools. Apparently they seem to weigh assets more heavily than other schools, which basically means that if you live in an area where the housing prices are high, there's nearly no chance of getting any need-based aid. They seem to think you can just refinance your house or take out a second mortgate or something!</p>
