hey guys i am wondering how do we get the money awarded from federal work study. is it like we pay the $2000 at beginning of the year and we earn back the money as we work, or is it like we dont pay the money at august we just have to work $2000 dollar worth of hours to pay it?

You have to pay that $2000 upfront, and you will be able to earn up to that amount through a work study job. You may or may not make that much, depending on the job you choose & the hours you work. I think of the work study money as a means of earning the spending money portion of your college budget ... you shouldn't think of it as money that will be put toward tuition/room/board for the current year.

k thanks alot!

Being a work-study student myself, I will definitely echo kelsmom's sentiments. I would add, however, that many on-campus jobs will allow u to make more than your work-study amount, in which case the extra money is on regular payroll. kelsmom is right, though, that you could very well earn less than the 2000 as well. best bet is to definitely show up at the career fair the first week of school (u should get a flyer about it, i think its the thurs classes start usually)... u will find a good job there. WARNING: get there early... as the good jobs go quick!!
