Does anyone know if financial aid comes with the acceptance (if you are so lucky)
I know some colleges seperate the two, but Bryn Mawr sends their acceptance/denials a little later than most.

I was a little disapointed to read that scholarships from outside are not used to take away student/parent loans, EFC. They said it was their policy to use it to take away their grants first. Maybe I’m wrong, but that usually isn’t the case at a lot of colleges. My daughter is trying so hard to win some, but would hate to have it not help us at all.

Three years ago (I am getting old!) I was notified of my offer of admission by email first. The financial aid offer came along with the paper admission offer. It seems that the college now gives all applicants a Virtual Bryn Mawr account. The financial aid offer might be posted there before you get it in the mail.

We get to keep the first $500 plus 50% of the remaining outside scholarship money, and the rest is deducted from our grants. For example, a scholarship of $2,000 would reduce our financial aid by $750. If the college kept all of the money, there would be little incentive for us to apply for outside scholarships at all ;)

Debruns–I got accepted ED II. So, I’m not sure if financial aid notification works differently for RD applicants, but I first saw my “estimated financial aid award” on Virtual Bryn Mawr account. As for acceptance, I received a call from Julie from the admission office, and was sent a the “thick” package a week later with financial aid information.

My daughter lost her password so she has to call and get it. I know FA can be all over the place so she doesn’t have her heart set on it, but I know she would be very excited to get accepted.
