Financial Statement of Personal or Family Support

Hello everyone,

I am a grade 12 Canadian high school student applying to the University of Southern California. I have a question about the Financial Statement of Personal or Family Support, which all US universities require of international students.

I was wondering if you have to submit that form before they will even look at you application. How does it work if you are only going to that university if they will offer you a scholarship? Will you be notified of a scholarship offer before you submit the Financial Statement of Personal or Family Support ? USC's tuition is substantial and through my parents and Canadian scholarships, I am able to pay for some of it but I would not be able to show that I have the means to pay for the full tuition.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Our D is in the States for University and you do not generally need to provide this until you are ready to get the I-20 form which you need to bring to US customs and technically get an F-1 Visa stamp. It is actually the US Government that needs to see your Financial statement. My D had received a 50% full ride scholarship and we still had to show proof for the full amount of tuition with no Scholarship. She had applied to a number of schools in the States and it was the same all over. You should contact the school itself and find out though.
