My daughter is waiting to hear about financial aid at Columbia. She has been offered need based aid at both WashU and Vanderbilt. Has anyone received offers from either of these schools and Columbia? If so... how do they compare? If not... has anyone received money from Columbia and any other school and how to they compare? Thanks. Anxious to get this figured out.

My D got her package Friday $38. most of her other schools, JHU,Cornell and Georgetown were between $35 to $38 never taught Columbia was so generous. Don’t worry everything will be fine.

Thanks so much for the response. Ours is being processed… they were missing a page of our tax return (that was blank but still they were missing it!). Hopefully we will know something within 10 days. If it is comparable then she will be going to Columbia!

The coffers at Columbia seem to be plentiful. Our D received a tremendous package, so much so that her other top choices, Dartmouth and Carnegie Mellon are playing catch-up. I see no reason why they wouldn’t offer a better package than WashU or Vandy. Good luck. Keep in mind though, what you save on direct school cost might be cancelled out by the expense of NYC. If not cancelled out, your student will definitely need/spend more for NYC than Nashville or St. Louis.

Thanks. Anxious to see the financial aid package.
