First Generation College Student Definition?

Hey Everyone!

I scoured the UPenn website and was unable to find an exact definition of a first generation college student. Some universities define it as parents who have not attained a Bachelor degree, while others indicate it as parents who have not pursued any post-secondary education.

My parents both completed trade school in China -- would I be considered a first generation college student by UPenn's standards?

Thanks in advance!

Bump again!

I did not see a definition on the upenn website either. I think no one is responding because they are not sure.

Try calling or emailing admissions and asking. They may be able to clarify it.

I have most often seen it defined as neither parent has a bachelor’s degree or higher, but Penn may have a different definition.
