<p>You need to weigh your options. IF the school finds out that you lied on your app or misrepresented yourself it is grounds to have your admission rescinded or have you thrown out of school once you get there.</p>
<p>Being a first generation is not that much of a tip factor unless it is combined with other things (poverty, low income, low performing school, etc). If you are a first generation student and your dad is the owner of his own contracting firm pulling in 6 to 7 figures being a first gen is not going to help you because you have had every advantage.</p>
<p>They could find out depending on what your parents do for a living, if you are trying to get legacy status, if they are repaying student loans, receiving hope or lifetime learning credits on their taxes., if the college gives out their own loans and will have to check for your parents credit worthiness, if they have/ had educational visas, etc.</p>
