First in family college clarification..

My parents are divorced first of all.. And my Dad remarried, so there's my Mom, Dad, and Step Mom, who all have different situations.

My Dad completed High School with no further education
My Mom claims she got her associates degree
My Step Mom is currently enrolled in classes now to (eventually) receive her bachelors online. She just started doing this.

Does the fact that my Mom got her associates, or the fact that my Step Mom is pursuing her degree bar me from the "first in family" title? I'm assuming it does, but I thought I'd ask (seeing as I'd be applying to four year universities).

I’m not sure, but it’s not like they determine that your “first in family” and give you “plus 5 points!” It’s all relative and they will just make a mental note of how much education your family has received. There’s no set advantage to be “first in family.” So it’s not an all-or-nothing deal. I’m sure they willnotice that you are going for the highest educaiton in your family.

The app will ask what grade each parent completed.

I am also wondering the same, but it’s a little simpler for me. My mom has her associate’s from what was a 2-year university at the time, and my dad has his high school diploma. I dunno if it’s worth mentioning on an application that i’m the first to apply to a 4-year university or not.
