I'd like to apply to one of these schools, maybe both, and I was wondering how the students at each college are different. I'm a pretty social, outgoing person and I've heard the students at Pomona are more introverted than at CMC. I'm also more interested in social sciences/humanities, particularly languages and political science. I also plan on going to law school immediately after graduation. Which school is better for this?

It sounds like you are a better fit for CMC, especially if you want to major in political science. Government is also one of the most popular majors at CMC, many people move on to the top law schools.

CMC people do seem to be more outgoing. I feel that it is because our campus is smaller and more intimate. But that doesn’t mean that Pomona people are at all introverted… I have plenty of awesome Pomona friends.

If you really like the Claremont schools, I would apply to both, just to test the waters. I applied to both although I knew I would prefer CMC more.

GOOD LUCK!

Sounds like you’re more of a CMCer than a Sagehen (Pomona).

Neither school will limit you from going as far as you want in social sciences/humanities, and they’re comparable for pre-law as well. Check them both out and go with your gut decision. I think that visiting is really the only way you can decide between CMC and Pomona, because no matter what students say, Stags and Sagehens are quite similar, and were obviously drawn to a lot of the same things in a college (small active student bodies, california weather, close professor relationships, etc.)
