Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

FYI. Beats by Dre was purchased by Apple back in 2014.

Ahhh- I forgot that. Thanks.

Yesterday was rough. I was “leaking energy” everywhere.

I tried to keep it short and sweet, because I haven’t had a day off, since maybe last Thursday? Anyway, after warmup, 5 rounds of 7 pull-ups (the chest to bar variety), 7 barbell thrusters and front-racked barbell lunges. Then 3 rounds weighted sled pushes and glute ham raises, which lit my lower legs up. ?

Day off today. ?

,

Garmin has had some kind of hack /ransomware thing going on. Doesn’t look like any quick fix.

Yep. Serious issues at Garmin. May be a couple of days.

4.5 humid miles and a quick dog walk pretty early. Lots of meetings/calls today. My husband is transferring my data to Strava and RunningAhead via Fit file until Garmin comes back to life.

I guess it’s my fault for mentioning snacks. I hadn’t been snacking for quite a while, and then I did it a few nights in a row, and boy was it hard to stop. I didn’t actually stop, I had cherries last night, but they are zero ww points. I’m focused on getting back to my previous no snacking habit.

I think I can come up for air. Work today was rough. I had 10 hours to do what a consultant would usually do in 1-2 weeks. This is why they keep me on staff. Hopefully, no more changes…

Workout was also rough. I tried to do a peppy run. It wasn’t very fast, but faster than the usual plod. Video of the day was HIIT legs. The workout sounded easy when he went through it, but it killed my quads. Finished with some core.

Your runs are normally under 8:00 pace! I wouldn’t call that a plod @ClassicMom98 ! Happy weekend!

Headed out to ride with “the kids” (my son and his GF - they are really 23 and 24) this morning. We have to drive 45 minutes to get to them, but it makes me happy they look forward to us coming.
Plus we will ride along Beach Drive in DC, where they close the road. It’s one of my favorite local rides.
I should get 25 miles or so in.

I wish I had a road bike right now! I do have a bike but my DIL “borrowed” it and this is one thing she and my S can do right now for entertainment so I don’t want to make her feel bad and take it back. A good long bike ride - outside and NOT on an inside bike - sounds wonderful!

3 mile run this morning followed by yard work and then housework. And then an shady breakfast with some huge blueberries, milk and almonds on the deck. My fav weekend activity.

9.5 miles. It wasn’t filled with joy  but I got it done. Did a little more than I thought I would. Want to get this Race Across Tennessee finished. As of last night I was 89.2% there. The top of my foot which was bothering me for a few weeks seems to be doing a LOT better, which is surprising since normally if I screw something up and keep going on it, it doesn’t get better. It was warm and humid, but mainly cloudy. Swung by the bagel place drive through afterwards! Will go float in the pool in a bit.

You are so close @MomofWildChild !

Just think, if it was cross TN north to south, you’d be done by now!

@1214mom

Wave to my baby when you’re in DC! Our 24 yo lives there.

We made it about 25 miles, including a stop for very nice desserts, which my son paid for. (It makes me feel I “raised him right” when he at least offers to pay. I don’t usually let him, but my husband’s 60th is this week so we all got a little something and then sang to him - it was nice). We were tempted to add on about another 10 miles, but the at the start of the path we wanted to go on there was a congregation of about 20 bikers all taking off, and they weren’t wearing masks. We didn’t want to deal with them, so we just continued with the 25 miler.
Tonight we’re going to have the first socially distant dinner with friends at our house that we’ve had since COVID started. We’re getting pizzas to eat on the deck, but we will each have our own, and they can take their stuff right to the dishwasher when they’re done, so I think it will be OK.

@1214mom - That’s fun that your son paid. When we took kids to Europe after 2nd one graduated for college, they were in charge of buying the Gelato.

I felt a bit better this morning. Yesterday, I felt so draggy and blech, I thought I might be coming down sick. Are some extra sugar (chocolate cake) and felt much better.

This morning, I ran to the gym and did the stairmonster for 35 min. There were two people on the workout floor - me and a guy on a TM 4 over and 1 row up. I appreciate the employees cleaning regularly, but the kid concentrated on the 2 TMs on either side of me for 10-15 min. His mask was down. I don’t wear one on the stairmonster. I wasn’t worried but really? You have this WHOLE gym you can clean. You have to pick now to clean these machines with toothbrushes? (Literally) and those machines are blocked off from people using them!!! I just had to lol.

Ran home and did the Barre Blend booty. All I can say is this experience taught me to never pay for a Barre class. Blech. Finished with abs.

I had a great training week.

PRs:

I already mentioned grabbing 75# for two triples on the press.

I also got 173# for two triples for squat.

Then, 109# for two triples for bench.

Then, 230# for one triple for deadlift.

In addition, despite protest from my elbows, I’ve continued with LTEs on one day which I superset with some “beef cake” bicep curls. Then, chins which I did for 5-4-4-4

Not bad for a woman my age at this stage in my training!

My thighs FEEL so thick. But I still fit in my jeans! For now!

Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow!

Asking for a friend  ( @surfcity )

Has someone used this product?

That one no. Something similar, yes. I first had a fuel belt but left it at the gym. I now have a Nathan belt. I always wear it while running now.

Instead of a zipper, you have to pull it on. But it has two zippered pockets and two non zippered pockets. I put my phone in one zippered pocket and my keys in the other. I don’t use the non zippered ones. The fuel belt only had 1 zippered pocket and a few times I had a few items (chapstick) work themselves out while wearing it.

I’m not sure if I’d prefer one you zip on vs pill. It’d be easier getting it on/off, but I’d worry about chafing while running and working out.
