Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

Yesterday I gave up because of that. But today I realized you can click on the time of the latest entry on the far right, and it brings you to the last post. Then you can scroll from there, at least.

Welp. Really hating the CC experience on mobile. Clunky as all get out.

Hard VERY hilly hike today. I was solo, listened to music, & took my time. 8.5 miles.

The sun was out and it felt great to be outside and move my legs. My back is fatigued from yesterday’s lifting.

Stopped by the grocery store on the way home & scored some New Glarus Raspberry Tart Beer. It’s like a sour - cider type of beer. Different & good.

Looking forward to a deep sleep tonight!

Dinner first!

Today’s activity was a 4.3 mile walk (3.3 pre-dinner and then 1 home).

Toss in a trip to the store and other running around and I’m 15.8K steps for the day

My gym is closed again. Our county went back to the most restrictive tier.

Hopefully, they’ll figure out their “outside operations” again and quickly. For now, I’m back in the home gym, which is our converted and rebuilt backyard greenhouse.

During the summer, “outside operations” was just moving equipment outside and back with a canopy for the bench press area. During the winter (has been sunny, no rain), they hopefully provide a complete tent, if possible, and some outdoor heaters.

Sunday was a complete rest day. It’s been a while.

I’m sorry about the gym, @sushiritto

Not a fan of this new format. It is too busy. Bleh.
Man, that sucks about the gym, sushi. I hope they come up with a fix.
We are holding steady, but I live in a no rules state.
I got to swim outside in the cold today.

Hoo boy, no kidding, right?

I’ve read others saying using an ad block helps a lot.

Gah.

Sorry about the gym, @sushiritto . There are going to be a lot of ups and downs. DH scored a dumbbell set online. It’s lighter weights than a lot of guys would want, but it will do the trick for him for winter indoor weights and for me to try to do better with strength training.
My friend and I did our virtual 10K on Thanksgiving Day, so I can wear the shirt with pride.

@HighTide2020 I typically run a 10K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning in San Jose, but I didn’t think it was worth the money to run a virtual race this year.

This past Thanksgiving, the gym was open from 9-Noon, so instead I ran a treadmill 5K with 3 sets of farmer’s carries (carrying heavy weight in each hand 50 yards after each 1-mile run interval) and finishing with the customary core work at the end of my workout.

Later, pre-turkey dinner, my family and I got together with some of my other family members and walked a few miles on the Crystal Springs Reservoir trail. My first time on that trail, wow, it’s very scenic, and busy.

Well, yesterday, I went out and bought a heater and light, so I can workout in my backyard gym in the 50 degree +/- (brrr) weather in the late afternoons. I don’t enjoy winter.

Yesterday on our local park path I saw something I haven’t seen in ages- a couple of folks were on roller skates! Not roller blades, but the 4 wheel skates. I also saw someone on a skateboard (older person) with a pole helping push themself along. I guess people are branching out.

@Sushiritto Had to chuckle at your comment about 50-degree winter
days–50 degree days would have us New Englanders cheering for joy!! Clearly, you live in a warm climate area.

I haven’t posted here in a long time. I’ve continued my yoga practice–I do 5 virtual classes primarilly with teachers at the studio I went to pre-COVID. I recently signed up for a Yoga for Anxiety class online and I’m loving it. I find it very helpful.

I also bought a Nordic Track bike and use it as well. I am thinking of purchasing the iFit programming from Nordic Track. Has anyone used it? Is it worth the money? I didn’t renew my gym membership (which expired in Feb).

I am not digging this site on my phone. I don’t get the emoticons. I think I click on something but I never see the count go up or see my name. Probably the wrong place to whine, but oh well. I’m grouchy today. I’m back to work in covid land.

But, I started a new program today for 30 days. I have never done anything by Shaun T (Insanity workouts) because I like more weights and I am afraid of too much bouncing. And I will only be but so dorky in the gym. But… I have since gotten a tad better with bouncy stuff and the Fortress of Solitude has no spectators. And, I found a hybrid calendar that mixes his Asylum workouts with P90X. I love P90X so there you go. Today was P90X chest and back. One of my favorites. Tomorrow will be the bigger test - Shaun T’s vertical plyo or something like that.

Whatever all that is @ClassicMom98 - go for it! It sounds very hard to me.

Definitely not a fan of the redesigned CC format (or at least not yet).

After my Friday 10k (unusual for me), I had 2 days away from workouts. Unless you count the minor yardwork and garage declutter project. Then today I ran 5k again - nice weather for it, but wind was annoying. A while after coming home I did a remote fitness Zumba Gold class via the city rec center. It was an efficient use of time - didn’t need to change clothes and did my shower after done.

Tonight’s post-work was was someplace over 3 miles. The amusing part was that DW was on the fence about going but then it was her idea to stretch the distance a little bit.

I survived my Vertical Plyo, but I sure didn’t look like those dudes in the video. I bet NBA players and some NFLers would be awesome at it. An aging almost 50 year old lady with zero fast twitch muscles? Oh notsomuch. I did have a LOT of fun trying to keep up. And I know it’s good for me to work on such things - if it doesn’t kill me first. Tomorrow, I’m back to my comfy P90X video, though comfy might night be a good word. I’m SO SORE from push-ups yesterday.

My workout last night was performed by “candlelight” in my home gym. A single 75W bulb isn’t great, but I got it done. It was a back squat day and I squatted to a heavy single. I felt strong, and thought about going higher, but decided to just squat a back off set.

The HIIT was a roughly 17-min combo of the assault bike, pull-ups and front squats. I was happy to just get in a workout last night, since I got a late start.

I plan to get an earlier start today, since sundown is about 4:50.

+1 to really being turned off by this site.

Weather has been so wonky - first snow yesterday/last night. Blah. I’ve been doing a combination of whatever it takes to get my Apple Watch ring closed and keeping the higher goals that I had summer time when it was a little easier to meet.

Today was 11.3 miles on the airdyne. HOPING to see some sunshine tomorrow and low 40’s.
I need some fresh air!!!

I’m going to duck out of CC for a bit.

The new board format is…not working well for me.

I’ll check in after some weeks have gone by and see if enough issues have been resolved to make it usable (and enjoyable again!)

This afternoon I was thinking it was a “sign”, (to move on) even though I don’t really believe in that sort of thing.

I’m also going to review if I go to the shooting range less, can I afford to hire that coach I talked to on the phone? Haha! Priorities? Not sure…

I don’t think I absolutely need a coach, but it sure would be nice to have some guidance on form and programming (!!!) when I get stuck. I could barely get those deadlifts up last Saturday! My back was fatigued for two days.

Take care friends! See you in the New Year?
