Before taking any supplements, I’d add more collagen-rich foods to your diet, such as egg whites, fish, chicken, specific veges and fruit. The natural way is always better than a supplement IMO.
If your health hasn’t improved, then speak with your doctor about supplements. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, I’m not a dietician or medical professional.
After posting here yesterday, I decided to peruse the DEXA scan company’s website. It seems they’re all over the SF Bay Area, almost on a daily basis with their van/truck and, in about 2 weeks, they’ll be in my town. So, I made an appointment.
Air temp for soccer tonight was 23 degrees and the windchill made it feel like 17. I had picked the right layers so I was completely fine and not cold at all.
Yea, in cooler weather success is all about picking the right layers… especially when windy.
When running I want to be warm enough (or maybe a bit cool) in beginning and cool enough (or maybe a bit warm) at the end. Of course on the trail the layers need to be portable.
One trick I have for having extra pockets (to stash shed gloves, hats, headband etc) is to add an extra pair of shorts over leggings. A pair of hiking shorts abandoned by grown son has been especially helpful on the coldest days since windproof with many pockets. I have not donned them this winter though since a lot of the cold weather has had too much wind and/or ice on trail. Also I’ve gotten wimpy, more willing to do indoor training bike instead (while watching Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix, now up to Season 16 )
That’s my big problem, when the weather is chilly at the start of a run, but then towards the middle of the run, I’m stripping clothing off so I’m not burning up. The compression leggings do help, but I still desired just be wearing my shorts during the run last Sunday.
In the old days, I’d be stripping down to a sports bra and shorts in the 20s and dark. As I get older and slower, not so much. Currently, I love capris and a cheap (walmart) hooded sweatshirt over my top. Hood goes over hat until that’s too warm. I usually carry the gloves if they get too sweaty. Sweatshirt easily ties around the waist as needed, or I can dump it and pick it up on the way back. I still do love the cold weather for running. It was 20* this morning and it felt awesome. Lifting in the 32* shed? Not as much. But, H got me a new (at my request) space heater for the shed. It’s not enough to warm the space, but it is very light and portable so I can easily position it exactly where I need it to be blowing hot air on me as I lift.
Younger S goes back to school this weekend. They are forecasting a foot of snow starting Sunday morning. When do the dorms open? Sunday at 10. I’m very thankful he lives off campus and can go Saturday, though I suspect the school will have to adjust something.
VA, but I think the storm will hit the whole Mid-Atlantic/NE region. Even we are forecasted to get 10" of snow/ice. We will see. Just pray we don’t lose power for too long. We lose it anytime someone sneezes hard nowadays.
Weather here (close in DC suburb) is looking like less snow and some ice tomorrow, changing to just rain overnight Hopefully our walk to dinner will still be doable.
We had a hike planned for this afternoon but we both had things to do for our non-profit gigs that we didn’t finish until after 3. So we did a 5.25 mile around our “neighborhood” (super loosely defined).
Last night we did our 2 mile each way walk to dinner.
After my workout today at the gym, squats for strength and then thrusters and pull-ups with a stairmaster finish, I decided to do a short 2 mile run this evening and I had to capture the “Tsunami Warning color run” tonight.
The weather was/is quite mild tonight. And people were lining up along the street in/with their cars to capture the strange coloring. I noticed several couples sitting and eating pizzas.
While I hope everyone in Tonga is OK and also along the west coast, the volcano made for some weird skies tonight.
Being a person who does not enjoy winter and the white stuff, I’m counting my blessings that THIS TIME we dodged the storm bullet. Plenty of move time in thanks of it - a weight video this morning and 3 mile walk. Then once the temp hit a balmy 32, I went for a crisp SUNNY run along the water. Lovely day and grateful for ONE MORE DAY of weekend tomorrow!
I continue to do 4-5 miles of walking, or 18ish miles of riding my indoor bike most days, plus some weights.
Today I rode 20.5 miles in an hour, without working hard. My “normal” for an hour used to be 18, which is how I started with the normal goal of 18. I guess I should try riding at a higher level. I ride at level 40 now, but will move it up a little. Maybe hills will be easier for me when I ride outside again.
Same old same old here, but I’ve added a 15-20 minute stretch routine in the afternoons. Nice down time in contrast to my go-go workouts. And I haven’t woken up sore since I started doing them.
Oh, and I got some heavier weights for Christmas so I love being back to almost doing the weights I was doing pre-Covid.
Y’all, I’m turning 60 this year. It’s affected me more than I thought it would. Boo.
