Variety is the spice of life!! Even if it’s a parking lot!!!
Hey, I’ll likely do it on my treadmill so yawn
Is it too early to post my TT run?
I knew tonight’s run wouldn’t be fast, since I ran after my normal programming, which included working up to a heavy 3x10 (3 sets of 10 reps) of squats and a HIIT of 4 rounds of 20 toes-to-bars and 4 wall walks.
This might be of interest …
Love the idea of the 5K.
In case you didn’t see it, abasket kindly opened a thread:
Just checking in. Life continues to be just coaching soccer, playing soccer and walks to dinner.
Weight is sort of stable at the level I got to a month or so ago-- which is fine for now.
Our next hiking trip is booked. The main part is the Speyside Way in Scotland- 7 days walking and a rest day in the heart of whiskey country. We are adding 2 days to redo parts of our other big walks. We will 1st go to Hadrian’s Wall to take a day to explore the fort at Housesteads and then will walk one of the most beautiful parts of the wall. We then will head back to the Coast to Coast and will redo the day we didn’t finish. We will follow one of the alternative routes.
Have gotten back in the exercise and careful eating groove, have gotten back more consistently to the gym, lost weight, and trying to get in shape for skiing. Hope not to break anything this year!
I’m still hanging in there, but I believe I’m going to do something I’ve never done. With the Beachbody stuff, they have a million programs, but when a new one comes out, you can pay for it for “early access,” or you can wait 3-6 months until it’s just free with the membership. I swore I’d never pay for one, but I think I am now.
I love ShaunT as a trainer. He is so motivating to listen to, but most of his programs are high intensity/high impact that doesn’t do well with my body. And then his other ones are more dancing themed - just a big no for me. I usually just listen to his videos while I run/do other cardio. BUT!!! Over the last 6ish months, he has gotten into Bodybuilding and entered a show and won several awards in his 40s age group. He looks great! Not that he didn’t before, but he looks amazing… And this program is pure weight lifting. So, weight lifting, plus his motivational personality? I’m in! It comes out in mid December, but I’ll likely start it January 1.
Currently doing Amoila Caesar’s 645 program. I love him for different reasons. He seems like a nice guy, and smart. Kinesiology, I believe, is his background. This program has been criticized for being too easy. It is much easier than his last one, but it’s all about functional movement. While I wouldn’t do it over and over, it will be a good one to throw in there to give me a break and to get some movement back in my body. And it still does make me somewhat sore. It’s just not a killer.
But otherwise, everything is same old, same old I guess… Loving the weather. Lows in the 40s, highs in the 70s…
I continue to do my thing… pickleball (now 4 times a week), bike riding (usually twice a week), and lots of walking.
I’ve been eating about a fair amount lately, and man has it gotten expensive. We haven’t paid a lot of attention to food prices before, but things are getting crazy.
I still do my same “light” routine- running and/or biking (or walking), gardening, short videos (leg stretch, arms). Nothing all that ambitious, but the key is that after more than six years I Still Do It
During my 3mile run today I listened to this podcast. A good reminder to consider weight training class - looking a calendar now, and darn, I have some conflicts or a “seniors on weights” rec center class.
Yes prices have definitely increased, but we tend to hit cheaper places more often now, so it balances out for us. I almost posted on the $12 restaurant thread this weekend. We were at a state park and went to a nearby restaurant/sports bar for dinner. Two pages of the menu had burgers/sandwiches with a choice of homemade chips, fries, or onion rings. Almost all cost $8.95 with a few at 11.95. Our total for 4 adults - post tax but pre-tip was $49!!!
Now the clientele wasn’t your typical CC crowd, but we were fine with it
I’ve also been going about my normal business. Monday’s programming had a 1/2 Murph, which was the first time that I had performed any portion of a Murph since mid-August. My time was about 1/2 of my average Murph time or about 23 minutes. I wasn’t pushing all out, so the time was fine.
I’m doing all my normal weightlifting, but I did drag my behind out of bed early Tuesday morning and ran 6 miles (also deadlifted that afternoon/evening). I may do the same run tomorrow morning, if I can get up that early before work.
Maybe I have some extra energy this week, but I’m typically not an early riser for any type of exercise. I really enjoy my sleep too much.
Your trip sounds wonderful. When are you going?
Main walk is July 5-12. We are giving ourselves a couple of days to get over jet lag so we fly out on july 1 and then fly home on July 22
Just spent four days caring for my mom so my workouts were hardly anything, but I managed to close my rings. Back to it today.
In good news, I didn’t eat a single bite of ice cream while there. I tend to stress-eat while caring for her, and she keeps so much junk in her house that it’s readily available. I had one pecan sandie and five Bugles.
Enjoyed the beautiful fall day here. Rode our bikes 42 miles. Saw people in shorts and tank tops. Next week the weather is changing.
Wish today would have counted for the Friendsgiving Run! I had a good one today! It was the abs/mobility/stability workout in the shed and then run until the gym opened. Did a good 8 miles that felt peppy. My stride length felt good and the ache and pain index was low. The moon was full and bright and the weather warm, but still pleasant. Finished up with 30 minutes on the bike and a bit more stretching to cool down.
And a bonus - I didn’t run into any spiderwebs. A blessing this time of year! And I saw another fox on the way to the gym.
That sounds like a great run!
And my second mini workout of the day. Not really, but what a great find for us. I heard they upgraded the Greensboro Science center but we had no idea it was that nice and cool! More like a zoo/aquarium.
And they have this super awesome treehouse/rope play area where adults can also go! Next, time I want to do the rope course. It looked really cool, but we got there only 1:45 before closing.
I only wish my kids were little again. It wasn’t anything like this when they were little, though still better than ours. Only benefit to ours was that nobody was ever there, so it was always like their own personal playground.
