I understand how one would go about getting one. I just don’t understand the perks of having one (except maybe a feeling of personal accomplishment). Can somebody please explain the merits of earning a Five College Certificate?

OK, so a few days later, no responses. I'll try to re-phrase my inquiry.

Where does a Five College Certificate rank in terms of academic accomplishment? Would it be the equivalent of a Minor, a second Major, or somewhere in between? Or is it inappropriate to quantify it in these terms?

How is the certificate viewed by students in general? Is it considered a huge waste of time? Do they feel it would help strengthen an application for grad school? Do they think it would strengthen a professional resume?

Someone answer the question. PLEASE!!!

I know. Seriously.

I have no idea and my D is a Five Colleges grad. In my gut, it feels like a second Major but I have no idea how it would be viewed in academe as in, for instance, application to grad school.

For potential employers, I'd just frame it as a major split among multiple colleges.
