Hi. I am a senior in High school and I live in Connecticut, I have applied to two schools including Central Connecticut State University and St. Joseph and I was accepted to both. Although this past summer I visited my family down in Florida and I absolutely love the weather!! I really want to go to the University of Central Florida in Orlando. But since Im from CT I dont know much about the school or its standards. I have a 3.8 GPA and got 1400 on the new SAT, the only thing is I want to be accepted for this fall 2006 to UCF, I submitted my application and essays and SAT score last week about April 17 but I know the deadline is May 1st.
Do you think I could be accepted i know its close to the deadline, but I really want to go there. Do you think my grades and scores are good enough to get into UCF. I really have no idea what their standards are since I live so far away. I am getting worried and I really hope I can get in.
Please if anyone has info...Thankyou

My honest recommendation would be to go to Central Connecticut or St. Joseph because UCF is definitely not at the level those colleges are. I say this because I am a freshman at Rollins College, only a few miles away from UCF. As for standards, you're a definite in. A 1400 also puts you into their honors program. Hope this info helps

1400 on the new SAT, not old. 1400 is pretty low...like a 940 on the old test....

I didn't realize that 1400 was on the New SAT--I would definitely not recommend coming here in that case because you will get no merit scholarships, and not be in the honors program. Of course, I still think you will be able to get in because the SAT score for Florida residents is pretty low, like in 1000 range for Old SAT, which is approximately what you new SAT score is like.

Yes, you will definitely get in, don't worry, Florida is a DUMB state. The only thing our schools care about is kids passing the FCAT (which is the watered down version of Regents), SAT's is beyond their concerns. UCF is actually starting to get slightly more selective as the population of FL is exploding, so more kids are applying to in-state schools because of cheap costs. I've never actually been to UCF campus after living in the Orlando area for 3 years, but I've heard it is fairly nice. A lot of my kids at my school would choose it over UF, and it is close to all the fun stuff to do in Orlando, and not too far from Cocoa Beach or Daytona Beach. If you come here, just realize you would be coming here for the stuff to do/nice weather rather than academic caliber. Everyone here jokes that UCF is an acronym for U Can't Fail, though sometimes that doesn't even hold true as UCF is usually for all the UF rejects and CC transfers.
