Florida pouring $50M into solar energy research at state universities

Looks like UF is leading another state consortium:

By this time next year, one of the biggest solar energy systems on a U.S. college campus will be in Florida.

UCF, the University of South Florida, Florida State University and Florida Atlantic University each will get $8.75 million to boost their ongoing research, while UF will get $15 million for research and to administer the fledgling Florida Energy Systems Consortium. Schools that did not get money will still be expected to contribute whatever expertise they can, state officials said.

Is this the same funding that was discussed about a month ago with the Florida Energy Consortium? Or is this additional funding to work on solar energy?

Ah, this makes me so happy! :)

The more news like this, the sustainability minor, etc. assures me that UF was the right place to choose for the environment. They should somehow make that clearer. "Hey, we lead the state in the environmental department, too!" I don't know, I just felt it was hard to find anything even when I was really searching for what Florida school to choose for my field.
