FLVS Recommendations?

Was thinking about taking 2 of the following over the summer
APES
Physics
Drivers ED
Spanish 2
English 2 honors
Geometry
If anyone has past experience please elaborate. And which ones do you think would be hardest.

I took Physics. It wasn’t hard, a lot like 8th grade physical science for me. FLVS is in general pretty easy because you get to take tests with whatever materials you want in as much time as you want.

@eniloracw so was it math heavy? or pretty easy? did it have an eoc??

Bump

I took Drivers Ed: Braindead easy, simple memorization etc did it in 3 days, ended up with a 97
I took geometry: tedius but easy if you’re good at math, the activities are annoying but like above you can spend as long as you want on the tests and retake the “mini quizzes”

@enilo, how much time did it take to finish/ did you have to do LABS …essentially is there a way you could write up a detailed review of Physics on FLVS pleasee i’m interested in taking and finishing it this summer

I am thinking of taking Algebra 2 over the summer. Is it really possible to do an entire year long course in the summer at FLVS? I want to do it for credit so I can take PreCalc in 10th grade next year. How are the classes conducted? How many hours per day? Thanks.

Weeknd i suck at math will it still be hard

I wouldn’t take APES online over the summer. I took Web Design I on FLVS and it was a simple class that was an easy ‘A’. I also learned a lot which is always nice.

I’m not sure how your school is structured, but Spanish 2 in-school was a joke (a ton of hooligans in my class that made it hard to learn). I’d take that online for sure. I’d also recommend English 2 online, since in-class English honors is so pointless.

I personally avoid online math classes since I like learning it with a teacher, but FLVS makes it easy to grasp concepts, so it’s not so terrible.

I just wish FLVS still offered AP Computer Science /rant

The math in physics was pretty basic algebra IIRC. And I think almost all of the labs are things you can do virtually. I don’t remember any of them being too labor intensive. All FLVS courses have an exam for each semester, but it’s just like every other test you take except it’s cumulative. You can still take as much time as you want and use the internet and whatever course materials you want.

@DHill, no probably not, the math is moreso following directions and realllly basic computations. What i lacked in discipline (Reading the lessons) I made up for with core math ability. It won’t be the easiest thing but it can be done, i did the entire second semester in 2 weeks.

@enilo Alrighty thanks, is it so long that i couldn’t get through it in the summer relatively quickly?

How do you have core math ability at only an algebra 1 level of math? That’s like saying you have core piano ability when you can only play Mary had a little lamb.

Is hope easy

@blake being really smart? I don’t know how to say it without sounding conceited.

If you were really smart wouldn’t you have finished calculus by now? I’ve heard of 10 year olds that have done that so if anybody’s really smart I think it would be them more than anybody.

Back on topic please…

Intelligence vs Traditional School pace in math …i guess

Drivers Ed is so easy bro, take it.

As for the other class, I would go with Spanish 2. I am in Spanish 3 right now and don’t know squat because my Spanish 2 teacher (in-school) was so terrible.

Also, take geometry IN SCHOOL, it is probably the only math class that is actually really important for you to know. The others are too but not to the same extent.

I don’t really agree, I would say about 95% of it was never used in any higher math class that I’ve taken. And I’ve taken up to multivariable calculus and differential equations. Algebra and trig on the other hand, are much more important because they’re actually being used in these higher math classes.
