Focus as a Premed

Is the focus program a good idea for a pre-med student, especially when it comes to fulfulling requirements and getting very high grades?

BUMP I have the same question. And if someone could recommend what are good focus programs as a pre-med, please?

Inquiring p-frosh want to know!!! LOL :)

FOCUS is a GPA gift, or so say most students. FOCUS also fulfills your T-Req requirements, if not your major requirements.

Does anyone know which FOCUS programs are considered "GPA-boosters," as I've heard lots of Duke students claim?

bump..........

I'm interested in the prospective health care focus cluster, but that's four seminars and a discussion, plus i'd want to take chem and a math first semester, since i'm a pre-med, and that's what they recommend using your two electives outside of focus on. Is this possible to handle as a work load? Is focus worth it? should i push chem and one math to the next semester?

I need to know this too.

I don't think you pick all the seminars + discussion when you choose a FOCUS. When I went to Blue Devil Days they made it seem like you pick a couple seminars only.

buffysmg...you pick two seminars and a discussion (from my understanding). however, i think that most focus kids take only one extra class. i'd like to know if it would be reasonable to take math and chem in addition to focus as well....(i'll be pre-med too)

I know that this is an old thread, but I would really like to hear the answer to this as well, since it is what I am planning on taking myself!

I definitely would want to know this too.. even though I'm heading more towards "I Don't Know What I Want To Do!"

Would this be a reasonable freshman schedule?
FOCUS Program
Math 32
Chem 23L or Chem 151L.. (if I get a 4 on the AP, I'm not going into 151.. that's a sign there's still too many things I still don't understand.)

^^ i don't think you can take 2 classes outside of focus (only 1), which is my dilemma too because i would like to take math and chem 1st semester!
