Follow-up regarding: newstudent.ucsd.edu

There was a thread a few weeks back, it's since died down after everyone received their official admission notice from SD, regarding the newstudent.ucsd.edu website (they've since changed it, so if you try logging in, it's not going to work). Some students were able to log-in, while others were not. Mind you, this was before SD began posting decisions on triton. I'm curious to find out whether those who were able to log-in at that time was officially accepted by SD, and vice versa, if those who were not able to log-in, not accepted by SD.

I'll start: I was able to log-in to the website before SD began posting decisions, and I have been officially admitted by SD.

Your turn.

*This thread was spawned by the hotly debated exchange in another part of the forum regarding Cal's housing website :)

I was accepted, but I have not submitted my SIR, and I got this.

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/4497/picture1fd0.png

I submitted my SIR and I got the same thing u got... Weird.

^
You should probably call your college then...

i was the one who started the thread - and i was accepted.

hmm i submitted my SIR and got the same thing as well...

i think that this site may not supposed to be in use yet

Yeah.. I even called and all they did was transfer me to different places... Annoying as hell. This is why I hate calling. We might as well just wait it out.. A lot of my friends get the same message too.

Let me make an amendment to my original post:

Yes, if you try accessing the newstudent website right now, it's not going to let you do anything; they shut it down after some confusion regarding the website several weeks ago.

Recap:

I'm trying to figure out if applicants who were able to log-in to the website (before they shut it down and before SD began notifying students of their staus) were later admitted by SD - is/was there a correlation between being able to log-in to the website and being accepted by SD, even before SD began making formal admission announcements to applicants?

kaymoua1123- I'm drawing a blur on what the website looked like. Did it basically look like what the current triton looks like? Is it where you had to fill in the Place of Birth, etc. to get your account information? Or was it the site that was kind of mediocre looking, as in no fancy graphics but plain Times Roman text? If the first one, then initially I was unable to log into the site and it took a little bit to eventually get onto it. If the latter, then yes, I was able to log into this site.

And I was accepted to UCSD. I understand what you're trying to figure out but I just cannot remember what the newstudent.ucsd.edu looked like or was.

Hi jourstristes,

It sounds like the latter; once you entered your information at the log-in page at newstudent.ucsd.edu, it should have taken you to the new student welcome page for the college that you applied to. Does that sound like it?
