Would any of you with recent experience be kind enough to tell me how the food compares at these two schools? Thanks

When I toured Bryn Mawr, I met a Haverford student who said she often visited BM just for the food. I have not attended either, but from what I hear, the Bryn Mawr dining is much better.

Yes Bryn Mawr consistently rates among the colleges with the best food. Been to both to schools multiple times and that is the general consensus.

Bryn Mawr Dining Services is one of the best in the nation. Most recently we were ranked 4th by the Princeton Review. The department constantly uses popular celebrity chef recipes and hosts fabulous dining events, like last year’s Harry Potter dinner that was featured on TV (photos available here: [Hogwarts Dinner at Bryn Mawr College Celebrates the End of Classes | Bryn Mawr Now](http://news.brynmawr.edu/2010/12/13/hogwarts-dinner-at-bryn-mawr-college-celebrates-the-end-of-classes/)).

It is true that Haverford students frequently make the trek here just for food. I think what really makes Bryn Mawr Dining Services stand out is their commitment to working directly with the student body on feedback, using fresh ingredients and (often) locally sourced food.

Up until two years ago (then I moved off campus and stopped eating in the dining halls), I preferred Haverford food over Bryn Mawr food. While Bryn Mawr had more variety in their menu (thanks to two dining halls), I was much happier with the food quality at Haverford: their staff knew how to use spices, didn’t serve food swimming in oil or mayonnaise and didn’t serve rotten veggies in the salad bar. (I returned my Erdman salads countless times because the tomatoes had gone bad, there was mold on the peppers or the lettuce was frozen…)

Since then, Haffner changed their menu and Erdman was renovated and both might have had some staff changes, so I honestly cannot make an accurate assessment of their current menu. I’d be so happy if Bryn Mawr now outranked Haverford in both variety and quality!

Food aside, Haverford’s dining hall is much more pleasant to eat in than Erdman (which is too small for the number of students it’s meant to serve, and gets super crowded and loud).

This is probably a biased view considering the fact that I only had the food at Bryn Mawr, but yes the food at Bryn Mawr is amazing. It is one of the best college campus dining places that I have ever visited.

Thank you all for your responses.

Hello! I’m a current Bryn Mawr student and eat at both Bryn Mawr and Haverford regularly, and I almost always prefer Bryn Mawr food to Haverford. My friends at Haverford agree that the food is better at Bryn Mawr. Erdman, Bryn Mawr’s main dining hall, and the Dining Center (DC) at Haverford have the same menu (however the DC has a “bakery” so the deserts are different at the two dining halls), however I find that despite this Erdman’s food is better quality and tastes better! Also, I have found that Erdman has more variety than the DC, which is strange considering the DC is Haverford’s only dining hall. But, the great thing is that the meal plans at both institutions work exactly the same, so no matter which dining hall you prefer you can most definitely eat there.

Also, on Sunday nights you will always see droves of Haverford students going to Bryn Mawr’s other dining hall, Haffner, for the famous pizza and chicken fingers!

Oh, and if you have any questions about Bryn Mawr (e.g. relationship with Haverford, Bryn Mawr vs. Haverford classes, dorm life, traditions, etc.) feel free to PM me =)
