Food for thought for admitted students – a perspective of a parent

I’m so happy and grateful-just got my fin aid appeal back and got a very generous increase in aid. This is amazing.

I found these posts extremely insightful and thank you.

I very much appreciated the comments regarding the interaction the staff has with the students and their overall availability to the students.

Is it possible to update the thread with your son’s overall experience now he has graduated?

I find the entire process nerve wracking to say the least.

Since the OP, UChicago has continued its momentum and now is ranked 3 in USNWR tied with Yale. Chicago Booth is tied at second with Stanford Business School and ahead of Wharton, University of Chicago Law School is tied at forth with Columbia Law School. Add to that Chicago’s undeniable global power house reputation as one of America’s top 4-5 universities. Moreover, Chicago is one of the last (if not the only) last sane temples of higher learning not infected by fruit-loop radical left wing propaganda and political left wing repression.

@Chrchill You are posting the same thing on numerous boards. These seems to matter a great deal to you, as does implying that other famous universities aren’t as good. To an observer, it would appear that you harbor a grudge, i.e., a rejection from one of these universities.

@exlibris97 If I recall correctly, he’s a parent. A Harvard alumni. His children go to/ got accepted to UChicago though.

@ScrnNme I guess my point was just that everyone knows Chicago is an outstanding university, as are Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley, Amherst etc. Some students thrive at places like Chicago and Columbia, others are turned off. Lots of people praise the LACs. I’ve just always been a bit wary of slagging off other universities.

@exlibris97 Thanks so much for your insightful psychological analysis, And to think, you were kind enough to provide it free of charge. Your personal attack is especially superfluous because I do agree with the point you just made above.

@Chrchill You are very welcome!
