food

i live in mccormick, and i want to know where's the closet place(s) to buy

1) uncooked/raw dumplings
2) some asian sauces
3) dim sum
4) dry seaweed to make sushi
5) raw sashimi

thx; b/w i want to start making delicious asian meals!

There's an Asian supermarket up Mass Ave. I am thinking it's not quite as far as Central. I've never been there, so I don't know if it's good or not.

There's also a Super 88 -- I think the closest one to MIT is the one on Comm Ave in Allston. You'd just take the Green Line B line out there.

There's an Asian market up Mass Ave. it's not too far it's before you hit Toscinini's.
I was just there today and they have frozen seafood dim sum (shumai? or something like that). Basically, everything on the list you have.
I actually live in McCormick if you want someone to go with you. ^_^
Hope that helps

yeah, there's a lotte (롯데 in korean) market up mass ave that's very close to campus. Not the best quality i hear, but still worthwhile

I think there's also a Super 88 around the Andrew Sq. (not sure about what stop ><) stop on the red line? It's at the South Bay Shopping Center; there's also a Target, Marshall's, Best Buy, OfficeMax, Old Navy, and a couple other things around there that are useful.

Yeah, it is the Andrew stop. And there's a shuttle that runs from the T stop to the shopping center, although it is a rather quick walk.

there's also a super 88 near chinatown. u can take the 1 bus and transfer to the silver line. and speaking of chinatown, there are several chinese markets. u can take the red line and transfer to the orange line to get to chinatown or u can just take the red line to downtown and walk from there. ask me anything. i come from boston.

"ask me anything" oh right, i'm very cheap, so: which movie theater in boston has the cheapest ticket for student? how do i get there?

how come charle's ticket only works in some stations? some stations refuse my charle's ticket! i need to buy the token

The reason the Charlie Ticket only works in some places is because it's a new system and they're changing the stations slowly to the new system. So, some places take the ticket others still use tokens.

I don't know price ranges too much, but loews was 8 dollars the last time i went. i can tell u where movie theatres are located. yeah the charlie system was installed just a couple of months ago and some stations still dont have them or the machines dont quite work. and it also depends on what kind of ticket u buy.

Ooo..I can tell you where to get cheap clothes. I buy them at Filene's Basement (Downtown) from the Automatic Markdown sections. They have good fashions and the clothes are really cheap, especially the ones marked 75 percent off. Rainbow's in Downtown also has cheap and nice clothes.

I would like to note that if you think the CharlieTicket system is bad now, you should have been here over the summer when Kendall was one of the only stations to be converted. You had to buy CharlieTickets at Kendall, but you basically couldn't use them anywhere else on the T.

If you ride the T a lot, you could consider getting an MIT-subsidized T pass, which can be used at converted and non-converted stations. It's $22 a month and is charged to your bursar's account.
