Football Recruiting Process

Fenway South… great summary and I believe spot on. The reason the IVY’s get these smart players in great numbers are because they are the IVY’s. Graduate from there and your set.
I totally agree you need to know you spot in the pecking order that is critical.

EMMI-I don’t agree. They have an advantage over other applicants with similar stats who aren’t athletes. They’re looking at 8000 kids for 400 places, for goodness sake.

My S’ experience(not a helmet sport) was that he had to reach the bar of the average SAT/ACT for the school, plus have the grades etc, and then he would be a “tip”, or the coach tells admissions: of all the 4.0 non-hooked boys with 2100+ SATs, take this one.
The entire Amherst athletic program had 45 “slots”-spots for athletes BELOW the average stats-per the coach we met with. His sport had 4 “slots” for the entire boys and girls teams.
That’s why ED is crucial-they aren’t going to support 5 first basemen-they pick the one they like best, and recommend that one only-hence the pecking order thing.
