Foote fellows and placement tests

Do foote fellows have to take the math placement test?

My son is a foote fellow and did not have to take the math placement test.

I don’t believe being a Foote exempts you. What does exempt you is whether you have AP/IB credit in Calculus or scored high in ACT/SAT Math section. The scores required depend on whether you intend on a BA or a BS degree.

For BS degrees you need to have Math SAT score ≥ 700 or Math ACT score ≥ 31 or AP Calculus AB score of 4 or AP Calculus BC of 3

For BA degree you need to have Math SAT score ≥ 630 or Math ACT score ≥ 28 or AP Calculus AB score of 3

thank you

That makes sense, Biocellar. My son did meet that ACT math criteria and he got a “5” on the AP Calculus exam. Interestingly enough, he wanted to take the Calculus class again. He’s studying for his final right now. He better be!

haha. My son’s a Foote too and took Calc III last semester. His is studying for Lin. Algebra right now too, but I am not sure how he feels after Cane Fest

According to this the prerequisites required for MAS110 (required for business) is 700+ Math sat sub score or a 31+ math act sub score. Of course I would have a 690 math sub-score.

And since MAS110 is not a cognate, the only way to exempt out would be to receive a 76+ on the placement test, correct?

looks that way, or take a summer College Calc course…

76 it is

Just saw that MAS110 was under an area of proficiency on the cognate page, so maybe it is a cognate. Not really sure at all. I believe my academic advisor will contact me soon hopefully I get to clear my questions up.

Here is a site where you can do a trial ALEKS if you think it might help. Good luck. With a 690 Math I am sure you will do well.
<a href=“ALEKS – Adaptive Learning & Assessment for Math, Chemistry, Statistics & More”>http://www.aleks.com/free_trial/instructor</a>

If one has a Math ACT of 36 and Math SAT of 790 will they need to take the ALEKS also. If NO then why they been asked to take the placement Test…

dadfor2014, Who asked? Doesn’t make sense as your scores far exceed the minimum requirements. I would call them or speak to an advisor in you department.

We got a standard email with timelines and one of them was to take ALEKS Math placement Test.
