I know in general it's not about where the degree is from but what you do with it. However with finance for example, where your degree is from actually plays a VERY big role in helping you find a decent job. However, if someone wants to be a high school teacher, it really doesn't matter where their degree is from. How much does it matter for SCM?

The key is “on-campus recruitment of your major”, and in this case SCM. You shall do some research and find out who and how many companies come to recruit this major at a particular institution. The schools that have better recruitment will present more opportunities in general.

I know that but is all that extra money really worth it? Can’t I find a job on my own?

I do not understand what “all that extra money really worth it” mean. On-campus recruitment is one of the best way to find employment and internship for college students. It is provided by your school as resources to help you find a job in your major of study. It costs you no extra money.
