For all you desiring to go into business: Why business?

Well, then I'll AVOID going into the healthcare group or the chem manufacturing group. I was thinking more like financial institutions/media/real estate group for Investment banking. I can't imagine there are hard science infiltrators when you're doing advisory side stuff for financial institutions/media conglomerates/real estate companies....

Why I Love It?
* It's not science (Phys, Chem, Bio)
*im asian and to break the stereotype that asians only like and drive asian cars (lexus, toyota, honda, acura, blah blah). it might not be a BIG stereotype, but i say this after a friend of mine came up with this conversation and i got pretty angry.

once i become a successful businessman (in which i truly want to be) my dream house would look like somewhat:

a garage looking somewhat like:

a BMW X5 4.8is color blue,
another BMW 760Li prob. color black,
a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S color blue,
and a Mercedes Benz CL65 AMG OR a Mercedes Benz CL65 AMG OR a Cadillac Escalade.

my house:

audio systems all Bang & Olufsen + fully designed by Kreiss. walls decorated with framed art depicting tuscan fields.

mont blanc, cartier, and tag heuer watches. 1 from each brand

Indeed, it sounds evil and greedy.

But now, ill give my TRUE reasons:

*competition builds up my life.
*keeps me busy
*ups and downs (not really something "Good", but a way for someone to learn how to pay attention and react when somethign unexpected hits their face)
*b/c it's business.
*can't think of more by now.

anyways back to the topic

once i become a successful businessman (in which i truly want to be) my dream house would look like somewhat:

HAHAHAHAHA....
Sounds like me

My dream house:

-~10000sqft
-6bed, 6bath
-Contemporary style
-Not one, not two, but THREE guest houses totaling another 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms
-location: Greenwich, CT
-three-car garage (separate garage housing up to another 3 cars)
-Modern furnishings designed and personally autographed by some famous furniture designer from Italy
-a closet full of Cartier and Mont Blanc watches, clothes and various fragrances designed and delivered by Coco Chanel and some other designer whose clothes cost and arm and a leg (beat ya there!!!)
-Four putting greens, 2 swimming pools with jacuzzis and waterfalls, FOUR party rooms, maid/room service, etc.

Dream garage:
-Maybach 62 (in silver-this one comes with a chauffeur)
-BMW 7 series in silver (for my driving pleasure)
-Audi A4 convertible in red (also for my driving pleasure)
-$35mil gulfstream jet (for my traveling pleasure-to be kept at JFK)
-Two matching volkswagen beetles in colors of my kids' choice, for each of my two kids
(I'm an environmentalist-I threrefore REFUSE to drive SUVs)

In other words, very opulent. I AM evil (well, not quite) and greedy.

Business is the only field I know that will enable me to enjoy the opulent and insanely expensive lifestyle described above. In addition to all the other reasons I mentioned.

a closet full of Cartier and Mont Blanc watches, clothes and various fragrances designed and delivered by Coco Chanel and some other designer whose clothes cost and arm and a leg (beat ya there!!!)

LOL ihateCA. yeah sure you beat me! for the rest of the things i wasn't specific, but i love Lacoste. I would buy the entire color range! maybe some Dolce&Gabbana in the future LOL.

Business is the only field I know that will enable me to enjoy the opulent and insanely expensive lifestyle described above.

yeah, true. LOL.

Plus, there must be people out there that think we are very greedy and evil and hope to live life based on materialism and material pleasure. Although this can become a very possible outcome of a successful businessman/women, what i believe is that we all just got 1 life and why "just live it?" I mean, i would like to live a comfortable life after i retire and once becoming a senior, is the time of one's life to truly enjoy our world's amenities.

ihateCA- u sure beat me! a maybach??? holy cows! a 35 mil gulfstream jet? ? holy s**t!

so in other words you guys chose business mainly for the money, yet probably none of you will ever become rich...how odd

Yep that seems to be the recurring thing southpasdena. Wanting money is not negative at all. However, being in a profession for the sole purpose of making money is definitely not optimal. One should have some interest in the field as otherwise, the risk of getting burnt out increases rapidly. Oh well, I hope a few do get rich.

its easy to say what you want to buy when you become rich but obviously there needs to be a plan in place to get you to where you want to be instead of a list of bullcrap materialistic items.

I'm going into business as well..I'm interested in Management Information Systems. To all you guys talking about making money..don't you think it could be a little difficult to do so considering that MANYYYY students go into business??

did i only mention i like it solely for money? No. Read the post again, will you southpasadena

did i specifically make that response for you...no...it is very general for the majority on this board, please read my post again, will you kevster

Ouch, you got owned kevster.

MONEY = POWER.............nothing more.......forget the cars forget the houses, money gets you influence over ppl........thats all i want

so i can afford my $27,000,000 mansion in San Jose

If you spend this much on a house in San Jose:

You got ripped off by about $20M; or,

You are buying waaaaaayyyy too much house.

okk.. than the money why would you choose business?

other* 10 characters

Due to the intellectual challenges presented by the financial markets. A case in point: even though my primary interest lies in markets, I decided to conduct a research project in another area of economics (labor). I couldn't have been more bored with my work even if I tried. Now I am happily conducting a research project in a market in which I have done work in previously and progressing very rapidly. To me markets present possibly the best "research lab" out there. You can study anything from psychology, economics, and mathematics using markets as your research lab to gather data. It might just be me....

"so in other words YOU guys chose business mainly for the money, yet probably NONE OF YOU will ever become rich"

this sounds very direct to me, although you say it wasn't.
Plus, right after my post and ihateCAs? Of course man.

And What about deleting "so in other words you guys" and replacing it with a " so in general people seem to?" wouldn't it sound as if it was talking about the CCers in this thread?

this thread sucks

How the hell do YOU know? You're not capable of telling me what I will or will not be 20 years from now, so don't you EVER DARE say that again.

yeah very true ihateCA. southpasadena has offended us a little. Crushing our dreams?
