What happened to the good ol' days, eh? I loved FFIV, V, VI, and to some degree, even MQ. I sat through FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX (which, IMO, is the best PSX FF), and enjoyed each of those.

And I'm not even an old-gen person, strictly speaking, being about four years younger than your average SNES/NES-nostalgic person.

Not to say that FFX was an unenjoyable experience. It's just that, well, the first thing that came to mind in reflection over it was "sparkly".

And now, there's Fabula Nova Crystalis. If the longwinded name isn't enough as a show of pretentiousness, it is to be comprised of at least three games, all..."sparkly" science fiction.

I guess I'm one of those sticks in the mud. It just seems that Final Fantasy has wholly lost its "fantasy" (it never really had its "final" :p), as well as its creators. Amano, Sakaguchi, Uematsu - all gone, replaced by Nomura (the man of all things black, skin-tight, and feminine when it ought not be), Kitase (meh, he's okay, really), and Hamauzu (sorry, but no Uematsu, even if the latter was starting to churn out very generic stuff). I like Matsuno, however, and Shimomura, and Kitase, while no Sakaguchi and seemingly more inclined to the sci-fi, is fine as well.

I suppose I'd just like to see the old with the new.

Ah, well. More games out there than just Final Fantasy. I'll just go play my Suikodens and Tales games if something goes wrong. :)
