@shuttlebus “some coaches were instructing their recruits to take the ACT instead of the SAT because they were finding that students that could not get past admissions with the SAT, were able to get past admissions with the ACT.” Is this because the ACT is still an easier test?
@center. “Is this because the ACT is still an easier test?” No, it was because the initial concordance tables were wrong. Based on the first tables released, it looked like the SAT scores were lower compared to the ACT than they actually were.
@shuttlebus. No. Some kids just do better on one test vs the other. My D excelled on the ACT, my S did equally well on both. It can’t hurt to take timed practice tests of both and compare.
@mamom. Yes, there have always been some kids who have done better on one test vs another. However, the initial concordance tables were an issue and made it look like kids were scoring lower on the SAT in comparison to the ACT than they actually were. Now that the new concordance tables have been released, with input from both the College Board and ACT (unlike the first time), the issues faced by recruiting classes of 2017 and 2018 should no longer be an issue.
