Does CMC have a limit on how many classes one can take at the other colleges? Or any limit on classes at all?

Yes there is a limit one can take at the other CCs.

You can take however many classes off campus as you want, provided that you get in them. Pomona caps all of their classes at 5 non- Pomona students each, except for PE’s for example.

i was wondering if you could talk at all about the Management and Engineering program at CMC

I’m in the Econ Engineering program, which is essentially the ME program plus 3 more econ classes. What would you like to know?
If you look through the threads a little further, I posted a little about it; you can ask me any other questions about it there.

I was wondering what the general opinion on the CMC campus is when it comes to participating in music (band orchestra etc), mainly because I recently applied ED and was rejected, and all my obvious leadership positions were within band and drumline. In addition, music was a huge part of my extra curricular schedule and is still very important to me. I hoped that if i were accepted I would be able to partake in music programs at Pomona while pursuing a degree at Mckenna. (I like Econ). Anyway what I’m trying to say is would CMC be hesitant to accept a student who is involved in music because there are no music programs on campus?

Thanks

I played piano competitively, participated in marching band, and sang for a really long time when I was applying. I doubt they rejected you because you were active in these programs.

Hi CMC37918
I’m applying to CMC this year as a ED II applicant and I just wanted to know how diverse the community is. Does it have a compelling majority of a certain ethnicity or is it truly diverse…?
And upon the diversity what is the overall characteristics of the CMC students? Does the admissions have an ideal model student who they try to look for?

Sorry for bombarding you with multiple questions but I would be more than thankful if you could answer them!!

Thank you~

I live in a dorm which is about 50% international students. I find that truly diverse.
CMC students are driven and want success. I highly doubt admissions have an ideal student; that said, they pick people depending on fit. If they think you could be successful at CMC, they do their best to admit you.
Good luck!

Hey!

I’m an international Student at Mount Holyoke College and I was thinking of transferring… Mount Holyoke is an excellent school just been in an all girls environment waayy too long now…need a change. I really love CMC and I also heard that you guys have an excellent international Relations program…So I have a question are there any Jamaicans on campus? I study Chinese and it’s my best subject is it possible for me to continue Chinese within the 5Cs? Being that it’s not offered at CMC…Do you think it’s best that I apply in the Spring semester as a sophomore or as a junior?

Thank you ^_^

I’m a CMC student that has taken Chinese. Chinese is only offered at Pomona and Havey Mudd(only 1 class at Mudd). Pomona’s language program is incredibly rigorous. Be advised: Chinese must be a passion. You will spend roughly 3 hours a day at the entry level if you want to achieve a high mark.

I would apply as a Sophomore. Gives you more time at Claremont to explore this amazing school.

Please feel free to message me with any questions about CMC. I’m in love with this place even though I was very skeptical about most of the claims (Mainly how well run the school was, the social culture created by students and the plethora of opportunities that CMC offers.) I’m happy to say that the vast majority of them are true to the extent that the school promises (which is pretty phenomenal).

East2West, as the father of a CMC student I have been using this board to convey the same message you expressed so well. CMC is an incredible school which many people have still not discovered. I have tried to explain all the wonderful things the school offers (people should search my previous posts), but unless you experience the school firsthand, it may sound like I am exaggerating. I have talked to many students and 99% of them feel the same way you do.

East2West, Thanks soo much! I’ve sent you a private message I hope you don’t mind me bombarding you with questions about CMC ^_^

You are interested in Chinese? I am a Chinese applicant and I applied CMC’s ED2 this year! I really love CMC but I know it’s also really hard to get in and you know the notification date is getting closer…I think if I am lucky enough to get into CMC, maybe I can teach you Chinese or at least I can help you improve your oral language!~~ I heard that Chinese is difficult for most of the foreigners cause it does not have clear grammar! . I’s also interested in Chinese history, how about you?
