for finance, what did you find useful

for corporate finance what skills did you find useful
for example.... accounting, math, communications, foreign language

Math.

Math

Math

Major in math. Live, breathe, and smoke math. Learn all the math you can in UG. Then watch it pay off when your making 500K in a few years doing statistical and analytical research for an ibank or firm.

You do not need to major in math for those jobs. I definitely agree taking some math classes is helpful, but Abstract Algebra and Real Analysis are not going to help with regressions and statistical analysis. After a few applied math courses, I would think some courses in computer science would be more helpful for those jobs than a theoretical math track.
