My daughter is working to get her scores up, but if they don’t go up enough she was considering starting elsewhere and transferring in. She has a 4.0 unweighted core gpa now, and 4.4 weighted, but her test score is very low. I saw on the transfer application they still ask for test scores? So do these tests haunt them forever? Maybe once they have a certain amount of credits they no longer ask for those scores? Is this the same at all the state schools? It feels very hopeless for my test anxiety-filled, great student.
How low is her test score? I was accepted into UCF with a low test score as well! Also she has a higher GPA than me so she has a shot at still getting into UCF even if it’s during summer.
It’s very low. 1010. She is currently in an SAT prep class and also doing some ACT practice on her own. She will take both tests again this month and next. Over the summer we will likely hire a one on one tutor and have her take the tests again at the end of the summer. After that we will start applying as soon as possible. UCF would be her first choice realistically, but we’ll also apply to USF and a few others. We’d love to stay in state because we have Florida prepaid, but I’m also pricing test optional privates and OOS. It’s all very stressful. We figured last resort is community college and a transfer in, but I worry her test scores will follow her forever.
