<p>Do you think we should someday be able to identify ourselves by our SSN or something? I mean, this would eliminate the whole Asians have it worse, black/hispanic= auto Harvard+scholarship, unless they did like cultural clubs and stuff.</p>
<p>Typically, they do ask for SSN.
And usually race is optional.</p>
<p>Don’t answer, if it is optional on that particular application. That was easy.</p>
<p>I meant as in our only identification on he application was our SSN or something. Obvsiouly if you have an Asian sounding last name, not checking off the race box isn’t gonna help or anything.</p>
<p>I’m sure Jose` Carlos and Kelly Smith and Shaniqua Jackson all have the same problem.</p>

<p>Trying to disguise your heritage just to get into college…that’s a new one.</p>
<p>Colleges should consider putting less emphasis on race but I’m not going to hide who I am just to get in.</p>
<p>If you take away the name and race section from the app you still need to deal with the essay. People who are minorities will just talk about their race there. I don’t think there is a way to eliminate race as a factor in admissions.</p>
