For the girls... Columbia vs. Barnard

I personally preferred the atmosphere at Barnard and the less structured curriculum. It all depends on preference, not "weakness" of applicants.

wow dusk that was blatantly offensive.

Because you can avoid the bad parts of Columbia and get a lot of good things instead.

I apologize for the lesbian remark, but that's what I have heard. Is it true that there's a large Jewish population as well?

hmm ... soul, so do you mean that u cant tell which girls are from barnard cus they are so integrated with the columbia community?

Also because they don't wear a scarlet letter, silver.

lol! a scarlet B for Barnard?

Duskstamper...forgive me for saying so, but your sources on Barnard sound rather bigoted.

The Jewish population is no larger than at Columbia, duck, or at most other good colleges. I think it's just less than 20%. As for the lesbian remark, well, that's what everyone "hears" about all women's colleges.

Please, watch and learn how Dusk tries to blame his/her ignorant attempt at humor on someone else, and then tries to follow it with another thinly-concealed bigoted remark.

muahahahahahaa

nono, the jewish population IS larger bc its in nyc and they get a lot of applicants from nyc. soooo if you're looking for a tolerant and diverse campus, barnard, nyu, columbia have it.(amongst others obviously)

who cares if there is a big jewing community anyway..?

^^ or at least its more active. thats one thing that would draw me to the school.

"who cares if there is a big jewing community anyway..?"
comfort issues? im actually not jewish, lol, but all my friends are and my entire school, so im always sprouting yiddish, id just feel more comfortable where theres a lot of diff religions (unlike some southern unis where its all baptist or something)

o right.. hmm. yeh i do like an international community

NYC has to be one of the best cities in the world for diversity! plus! on the other hand, i'm deathly afraid of those streets and drivers...

Actually, Penn and Yale both have larger Jewish communities than Columbia. And several other non NYC colleges.

Edit: I was wrong on the %, though; it's just about 30% at Columbia. Which is interesting, considering how many students JTS must draw.

chatterjoy... yeah the cab drivers are insane, you like have to be crazy to drive a taxi, but i believe that NJ is renowned for their terrible drivers. its just a fact that their the worst. :)

our drivers aren't THAT bad... you just have to learn how to be assertive and not LET them cut you off. you learn after living here for a long time. if not, there's always rocks to throw :)
