So I have a bit of dilemma. I am currently deferring from my college and they have this agreement…
Do not apply to and/or matriculate at another college
…Since they are reserving a spot. I realize that this is a binding agreement, but I have found a program at a different school that is not offered at my current school, and has been a dream of mine. I had a rough initial college process, and found that taking time off would be perfect to rediscover my identity, and I found this program by accident. But now, I am involved in this agreement.
I’m not implying I will get into the school with the program, but I feel extremely angered and myself and need advice.
Please Help
If you had found college B last year, would you have applied to college A where you are currently deferred?
If you wouldn’t have applied to A, ditch them now amd apply to B, as well as anywhere else you now like better than A, remembering to have safeties on your list, etc.
It’s a tougher call if Be would have just been one of many along with A.
You just call up your school and withdraw. Then you are free to do whatever, you cannot have your cake and eat it though as your school hs this agreement. School isn’t started, you will just lose your deposit.enrollment fee.
You could call the admissions office and be completely transparent about your situation, and request an exemption to apply to one school which has a specific program which isn’t offered at your deferred school, and which has arisen as part of your gap year experience. Explain that it is NOT a case of general dissatisfaction with your deferred school, or of wanting to apply to multiple other schools. What can you lose? If they say no, you still have the choice of not applying or of withdrawing and applying.
