Does memorizing prefixes suffixes roots affixes and stuff like that help much? I have a few days left, is it worth a try to familiarize myself with some common roots or should my time be spent on other things such as practicing or something else?

Yes, Gruber's list of roots are very useful. Roots used along with vocabulary lists of common SAT words can be a very strong tool.

Don't spend too much time on this unless vocabulary is your weakest area.
