Forbes rankings

Cornell is an amazing school and has so much wealth with its academic offerings that I wouldn’t trade it for any other school.

I agree - Forbes made a mistake in their editorial…They must have been refering to Cornell University when saying Duke, Dartmouth…not Cornell College…
Maybe Cornell University is actually 105???
Oh well…
Cornellians are above silly rankings.

LOL, ratemyprofessor was part of the criteria?

Wow…

Blasphemy.

I guess that is why West Point beat out every other university, maybe i should transfer to a school that pays for everything, because they will obviously be ranked higher than schools like cornell. these rankings are silly and the fact that a good portion is based on ratemyprofessor is a joke: more often than not, the same people post multiple rankings for one professor in order to give him/her a bad rep. I thought Forbes was smarter than than relying on volatile information like ratemyprofessor.

It is clearly apparent that Forbes confused Cornell College with Cornell University. Someone should point out this incompetence to them and they should correct this insidious list. Cornell U. has one of the highest numbers of award winning professors and students in the country!
The list is hurtful and misleading!!! Can’t someone get them to correct this!

i dont think it really matters tbh

and i’m pretty sure they’ve printed it in their magazines already

We can only hope that applicants aren’t crazy enough to take this list seriously…

lol @ the comments

Au contraire, it is your prestige-whoring that is hurtful and misleading. Cornell can more than stand up on its own merits.

You are so right Cayuga!!lol.

The commenter who said he would prefer to not hire a cornell graduate seriously worries me. If employers think cornell students are cocky and undesirable, I think I would rather transfer.

This is not a matter of prestige. I would just like to be able to get a good job one day.

and btp, judging by your other posts, you have such a skewed perception of top schools that i don’t even know whether to take your posts as jokes or signs of a bitter applicant.

What commentator?

I think it was a comment on the Forbes website itself. But I highly doubt that’s how the majority of employers think.

Apparently the Forbes powers that be do. Steve’s alma mater, Princeton, was ranked # 1 in 2008–#2, 2009.

And to quote from a friend, who is a renowned researcher and tenured professeur at another Ivy, “Cornell is unarguably one of the top research universities in the world.”

One word. Bullcrap. This is just more proof that rankings, especially Forbes rankings, rarely ever paint a proper picture. Also, I think the fact that they actually mixed up Cornell College and Cornell University speaks volumes as to the accuracy and competence of these people.

Publications like this make me regret the fact that we have freedom of the press… and I’m a libertarian! haha.

You think you Cornellians have it bad? My school, UMN, is usually regarded as one of the best public schools in the nation and one of the top research universities in the world. Where does Forbes rank it? In the mid 500’s… behind the University of Minnesota- Morris, I might add. Ratemyprofessor is the primary criteria… Forbes is a complete joke.

ratemyprofessor is a reliable source. they use a chilly pepper to represent a professors attractiveness.
