Fordham English Language Test(FELT)

Hi, I'm an international student admitted in Fordham this fall. I am told to take FELT at the beginning of the year. How's the FELT like? Does it like SAT1 or TOEFL? What kinds of reading materials and writing questions offered in the test?
I also would like to get some advice or tips from those who had some experiences in FELT;)))

thx

It would be OK for you to ask the International Student Office at Fordham about this exam. They can suggest good ways for you to prepare for it.

Now here is my advice as an ESOL teacher:

1) Read as much English as you can. Read anything that you enjoy reading - romance novels, detective stories, newspapers, magazines, nonfiction, anything at all. If it is boring, put it down and find something that is more interesting for you. Don’t stop because there are new words. Mark them in the book, keep reading, and at the end of the day go back and see which of them you have figured out. Then look up the ones that you think you need to know. Reading a lot is the best way to improve your writing, so keep on reading.

2) Listen to as much English as you can. YouTube videos can be great because you can watch them a million times for free, and a lot of them have subtitles. But watch the video a couple of times without the subtitles to see if you can understand it first!

You might try posting this on the Fordham page as (judging from the name) the test sounds like it is unique to Fordham. And happymomof1 gave you sound advice as well.
