Some fun facts that I thought some might find interesting

1-So, my family was watching a new show last night called Forever. (about a NYC Medical Examiner who is immortal) The story was about a co-ed who was killed on a NYC college campus. The first scene is of a dorm room that both my wife and daughter immediately recognized as McMahon! Then many scenes were shot in and out of Gabelli; in one scene the FU crest is clearly seen, even though no school name was mentioned.

2-The race for NY State Governor is heating up between Andrew Cuomo and Rob Astorino, both Fordham alums!

3-The 2014 winner of Miss America is Kira Kazantsev, who is quite proud she was accepted into Fordham Law!

While watching the Pilot for Madam Secretary, I was wondering since her husband was now going to be teaching at Georgetown, if they were going to film at Fordham. So of course, they were there last week, my daughter had to take detours to class. Then on last nights episode you could clearly see Keating, Eddies, and the Fountain. Even though my daughter was on campus during the summer, she probably wasn’t there when they were filming those scenes.

Looking forward to catching more glimpses of Fordham standing in as “Georgetown”.

As for Madam Secretary using Fordham as a stand-in for Georgetown, I think that will be a regular thing; my friend who scouts locations told me that NYC offered big tax incentives to the producers so as much as can be filmed in NYC as possible will be in NYC. It’s funny: whenever a film/TV company wants to shoot Columbia as Columbia, they use Columbia, when they want to shoot NYU, any NYC building will do but when they want to shoot a general, generic Gothic college, they go to Fordham. Although in some movies Fordham did fill in for Columbia, Cornell and Harvard.

I think the only movies that used Fordham as Fordham were The Iron Major and recently Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. TV was the VInce Lombardi Story and Shattered Vows. Can’t think of any others.
