I plan on transferring to Northwestern and majoring in Economics. Hopefully, I will be transferring the start of my junior year (Fall '10). I've already taken two semesters of Spanish in college. Does anyone know what the foreign language requirement is for a junior transfer into Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences? How many semesters must be completed before transferring? I think I read somewhere that it was six quarters (3 semesters), could anyone verify this?

Thanks in advance !

FIrst, the “quarter” is a bit of a misnomer, because it functions like a trimester system. There is Fall, Winter and Spring quarter each year. So six quarters would equal four semesters.
Second, the language requirement is a bit more complicated; you are required to have a reasonable degree of “proficiency.” See [Foreign Language Proficiency, Degree Requirements, Undergraduate Students, WCAS, Northwestern University](http://www.wcas.northwestern.edu/advising/degree/language/index.html#transfer)
